Episcopal

Episcopal

D: So now that I’m up to my eyes in Chartreuse, there’s a recipe on the back of the bottle of Yellow Chartreuse called “Episcopal”. It’s a cocktail made from both types of Chartreuse. That sounded interesting, and Chartreuse smells sort of herby and delicious (basically Jagermeister), so I wanted to give that a shot. His Drink## [Episcopal] Ingredients:### 1/2 part Yellow Chartreuse 1 part Green Chartreuse Needed### Glass Directions:### Add ice to a high ball or other drink glass of choice Pour Chartreuse into glass Stir or otherwise mix Enjoy Verdict:## D: Basically, a lighter, sweeter Jagermeister. Rosedale Diner - Valentine's Day Dinner

S: Normally, the hubster and I don’t do anything for Valentine’s day. If it falls on the weekend, maybe we’d go to our favourite butchers: Olliffe But 2 nights before Valentine’s day rolled around, while perusing Instagram, I saw the below post from Rosedale Diner, and knew what our plans were. Featured on our Valentine's Day prix fixe: Buttermilk Fried Chicken Mac & Cheese w. butternut squash 5-cheese Mornay sauce & garlic herb bread crumbs. The Gypsy

The Gypsy

D: St-Germain adventures continue. See, I thought we had Green Chartreuse, so I was being smart and using a couple of liquors we already had. Turns out Yellow Chartreuse looks pretty green. So that genius plot kind of failed. But this drink should be interesting anyways, as Chartreuse so far has been pretty good, very different. His Drink## [The Gipsy] Ingredients:### 1.5 parts gin 1/2 part St-Germain 1/2 part Green Chartreuse (not yellow :( ) 1/2 part freshly squeezed lime juice Needed### Chilled Cocktail Glass (I used martini) Shaker Directions:### Add ingredients to a shaker full of ice Shake Pour...…

Beale Street Cheeseburger

Beale Street Cheeseburger

D: We were craving burgers, pretty much as always, and thought we’d try this recipe of Alton’s. The thought of deep fried burgers was a little bit… disconcerting, since we had the fear of it being just a ball of grease. The recipe claims that as long as the temperature is monitored, it won’t become greasy, and will actually be less greasy than other methods. So let’s see how deep fried hamburgers work out! Ingredients:## 2 quarts peanut oil, or shortening, for frying 12 oz ground beef 1.25 oz grated cheddar cheese 1 tsp smoked paprika 1 tsp garlic powder...…

French Gimlet

French Gimlet

D: Well I like Gimlets, and the mission to work through the St-Germain is continuing, so French Gimlet! It’s a Gimlet with St-Germain to replace the sweetness in Lime Cordial! His Drink## [French Gimlet] Ingredients:### 2 parts gin or vodka [I used gin] 1 part St-Germain 1/2 part freshly squeezed lime juice Needed### Martini glass Shaker Directions:### Add ingredients to a shaker full of ice Shake Pour into a Martini glass Garnish with a lime twist if desired Enjoy Verdict:## D: Like the previous St-Germain variations, oddly great. The Elderflower adds a lot to the drink (since a Gimlet really...…

Chocolate Chess Pie

Chocolate Chess Pie

D: We were looking to try a couple of Alton’s dessert items and picked 2 recipes. This is the first of those, being ‘Chewy Peanut Butter Cookie’. These are flourless gluten-free peanut butter cookies. Which sounds suspect. We’ll give it a go and see how they turn out. They’re peanut butter cookies, it can only go so wrong. Ingredients:## 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust 16oz sugar 2oz unsweetened cocoa 2tsp kosher salt 4 large eggs 1 5oz can evaporated milk 8oz (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted 1TBsp vanilla extract Meringue:### 8oz sugar 2oz light corn syrup 2oz water 4oz egg...…
